Humans define abundance in various different ways. This heavily depends on their cultural, society and family background which most of the times is biased against having an abundant mindset.
Here is the reason behind this. Most of us, we were raised in an environment that defines abundance through a scarcity mindset. Take the news, the radio or the common tells of the society we live in for example. They are all focused on making us think that money is limited (or even worse, evil), if we become wealthy someone else needs to be poor (like there is scale there) and the available resources to achieve what we dream in life are way too limited for us to accomplish it…
Does this story sounds familiar to you?
If yes, that’s great! Because in this article you are going to learn how you can define abundance in a way that can reinforce your mindset, boost your business results and improve your life in general.

We are living in a world of abundance which consistently increases its available resources, thus we can go on and create an abundance-based blueprint that will improve and grow our entrepreneurial skills. This diagram takes into consideration that all entrepreneurial startups and organizations operate at nearly 100% in real time, with practically no time or predisposition for deeper analysis or theoretical hypothesis. Think about this, how many times have you seen business owners to be “open” for a new idea or have available time to test something in their company?
In addition all these trackable goals need to be constantly defined, pursued and accomplished while any kind of arising problems or troubles must be quickly faced and eradicated. Nonetheless when we are in business, opportunities for advancements in productivity, efficiency and profitability must always be captured as soon as identified while already existing strengths and capabilities is required to be reinforced and maximized.
Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think
An amazing book to read about Abundance by space entrepreneur & innovator Peter Diamandis, who is also the founder of the X-Prize foundation. The New York Times bestselling “manifesto for the future that is grounded in practical solutions addressing the world’s most pressing concerns: overpopulation, food, water, energy, education, health care and freedom” (The Wall Street Journal).
It is commonly known that entrepreneurs, like you and me, succeed and fail publicly. We are evaluated by specific standards, for everyone to see because there is no place to hide behind the scenes. Mike Hostetler talks about what’s valuable in a world of abundance on his blog.
These 12 divergent terms described in the video, will help us entrepreneurs and startups to improve our thinking, planing, organizing and implementing of processes and approaches that can multiply our improvement of business growth and progress. Did you noted down the diagram from the video?
The problem arises from the fact that in spite of the global explosion in abundance-generating resources, opportunities and know-how’s that have been available to potential entrepreneurs and startups the past 10 years — a vast number of startups and entrepreneurs are swamped in a cultural mindset of scarcity which is the blueprint of virtually every business, company and profession globally.
This scarcity-based mindset is identified in the above video by 12 expressions that, when combined together in a single-minded logic, create a very difficult challenge for even ambitious entrepreneurs and successful startups to comprehend about their past, present, and future in terms of unlimited abundant resources.
How to Define Abundance in Order to Transform From an Isolated Company to Constantly Expanding
If you watched the video, you can clearly see that Dan Sullivan and his team in strategic coach have identified 12 words that define abundance. If you put these words together and keep relating each other you will eventually come to understand that these abundance-based expressions form a self-sustained logic alone.
This helps us entrepreneurs and startups to think or act in ways that create exponential improvements, achievements and results. Only by substituting these 12 scarcity expressions for the 12 abundance expressions, you will notice a dramatic improvement in your entrepreneurial clarity, confidence and capability throughout your daily business life. That’s what define abundance means.
Reading these polar opposite expressions between scarcity and abundance you will understand that each of them is emotionally, psychologically and intellectually powerful on its own. Going through each list from top to bottom, you will begin experiencing a phenomenal difference between the expressions used from the people with scarcity mindset and the ones with abundance mindset.
The moment you fully grasp the complete logical meaning behind this expression diagram, it will become easy for you to understand why so many startups or entrepreneurs think in terms of scarcity although we live in a world of increasing abundance. The good thing is that there is a solution to escape from this society trap we were all put in. Michael Hyatt talks about the perceived scarcity in a world of outrageous abundance on his blog.
The transition from each of the 12 scarcity expressions to its polar opposite abundance expressions provide a way for anyone with an entrepreneurial mindset to begin changing immediately. But remember, you will need to first choose to permanently escape from a mindset of confusion, isolation and powerlessness to a new mindset where there is a permanent improvement of clarity, confidence and capability. A new mindset where you define abundance as your primary drive.
A great way to transfer this abundance-based mindset, to the people you collaborate with, is to make the differences between a scarcity-based mindset and an abundance-based mindset clear for them to access their own abundance and resourcefulness.
Us the entrepreneurs and startups now days experience a great resistance to define abundance and scarcity. In order for us to crossover to an abundance-based mindset of increasing clarity, confidence and capability we need to first choose to leave the scarcity-based mindset of uncertainty, fear and limitation.
How to Make The Crossover From a Scarcity-Based Mindset to an Abundance-Based Mindset
-
Note down and read the expressions every day.
-
Continuously reinforce & repeat the abundance expressions.
-
Use the abundance-based mindset to build your startup.
-
Continuously thinking in terms of abundance will create transformation.
Most of the startups and entrepreneurs now days posses a scarcity mindset because their brains are culturally trained to think in terms of scarcity-based logic. Every time you read these 12 polar opposite expressions, you will feel free from scarcity thoughts in noticeable ways. More importantly you will feel able to expand your business resources, capabilities and opportunities in an abundance way. Mike Cernovich talks about how to develop an abundance mindset in world of scarcity on his blog.
Both within a company and out in the marketplace, the vast majority of people is using a scarcity-based mindset and logic, throughout the day. Every time you identify this, its best for you to stop and substitute that expression with the appropriate abundance-based one for your thinking. This can be also applied in your company through a discussion of why this is so important. However in the outside world, most of the times, it is impossible for you to control other persons thoughts. In that case you can go on and do this in your head as mentioned earlier.
Build your startup or company and your personal capabilities on a daily use of abundance-based mindset and logic. For example, thinking in terms of investments for the outcome part of your company’s finances leads to a company mindset of multiplying and expanding instead of a minimizing, defensive mindset which tries to avoid and cut costs. Another example is thinking your customers, clients and everyone who pays you money as a multipliers immediately turns all the efforts of your company towards increasing the value your multipliers receive in the end product or service.
Removing the scarcity-mindset language from your company, will very quickly set your company free from scarcity limitations. While this happens, every activity and situation will be taken under process in accordance with an abundance-based mindset. Your company will start to expand without a specific reason and your multipliers will start to increase and bring more profit back to your company almost without any effort.
All things in life are controlled by our logic and mindset. Our logic is controlled by the language we use to talk to ourselves and think everything through. Trying to define abundance and scarcity is like trying to define two separate self-contained worlds. The world we choose to live in, scarcity or abundance, derives from the language we use daily and we can control, even reinforce this. Choose the mindset, choose the logic, choose the language, choose the results.
