Have you ever been tortured by a Powerpoint presentation?
I got recently, and I really couldn’t believe it!
The speaker was so ridiculously empty and annoying that I felt sleepy on a subject I’m passionate about.
The Powerpoint presentation?
You don’t want to know…The graphics were quality from the 80’s (no kidding) mixed with all the rainbow colors possible.
I admit it, I left the presentation about 5 minutes in.
Why are you doing this to us?
Why do you even stand up to speak without caring not even a little bit about your audience?
Seems too selfish to me.
Follow These Tips To Dramatically Improve Your Next Presentation
Doing only one search on this thing called “Google”, I came up to this great presentation techniques compiled by Team Treehouse.
Write them one hundred times and pin them next to your computer if it makes it easier to remember.
- Rehearse
- Don’t repeat what is written on your slides
- Don’t overload your slides
- Make eye contact
- Know your audience
- Move around
- Don’t read the script
- Slow down
- Make ’em laugh
- Be passionate and energetic
My personal addition: CARE ABOUT YOUR AUDIENCE
Most new presenters forget this specific trait, the moment they begin their presentation.
It’s like the whole world reveals around them, they are the experts, and the audience must oblige and give them all their focus.
I’m afraid to break it up to you, but it doesn’t work like this.
Your audience will be put off because they will feel like you only care about you and your presentation, instead of them.
Remember, it’s all about your audience, customers, users or whoever you want to influence.
That’s my two cents on death by powerpoint.
Use it for yours and your audience’s benefit.
